S.M.A.R.T Goals
- We will aim to harvest
about 80% of all crops that we plant throughout the Fall season, by
mid-December at the latest.
- We will plant 44 bush bean plants, 11 cauliflower plants, 44 carrot plants, 22 lettuce plants, 14 banana pepper plants, and 33 spinach plants.
- We will plant 44 bush bean plants, 11 cauliflower plants, 44 carrot plants, 22 lettuce plants, 14 banana pepper plants, and 33 spinach plants.
- We will plant peppers and bush beans earlier in the semester as they can handle hotter temperatures. As the weather begins to cool down, we will choose fall season crops like carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and leafy greens to try to ensure the quality and success of the crops.
- The crops will be maintained using organic practices that benefit the ecosystem. Examples of techniques we will be using include using organic fertilizer, using drip irrigation lines for watering, using hay as a weed suppressant, and planting buckwheat to attract pollinators and suppress weeds.
- We plan to sell our final products to the consumer, possibly local restaurant owners, by means of handing out flyers notifying people of our farm and using social media to draw awareness. A main selling point of ours will be that our produce is both local and organic.
- By providing produce that is healthy, local, and organic and using techniques that enhance the ecosystem we are contributing to the overall well-being of the community and the environment.
- We will donate a portion of our final harvest to local food banks to further contribute to the well-being of the community.
