 Progress with our provider beans! The mulch has been very successful in suppressing weeds. The mulch has also been helpful with holding water.  This is good news for our provider beans, since they have shallow roots. The bottom picture provides a close up, and you can see the beans have started flowering. We haven't had much issues with pests, however we did treat the soil with diatomaceous earth before the mulch was added.
